See y’all soon.
We’re really excited to start making noise outside of boxes again. Boxes get old, they feel limiting. They’re nice controlled areas, but its really on a stage where we feel we get to shine. We’ve had the chance to session with so many different people and really groove out the way we wanted to since we’ve started playing out earlier this year.
Just starting to stretch out our legs now. Getting less afraid of trying new things, doing things the way we like.
I hope we get to do it this way forever, the way we like.

M I X I N G !

You know this is the part where everything comes together, where you’re allowed to kind of lay back and for the first time maybe not be so nervous. We’ve been really nervous, the last record was so dark. The tracks we’ve released in between in themselves have had such a unique feel on their own that they themselves felt like their own story and through all of them we keep wondering if they’re portraying where we’re at mentally.

This new ep “All Sorts Of Bad Things” is maybe for the first time the closest representation to what this band really means to all of us. Its fun, its fast, sometimes slow, but overall it makes you want to groove. We’ve been listening to the tracks kind of progress and as each layer gets added its a little nerve wracking. Is this not sounding how i want because of the wrong amplifier? Should we be using brushes or sticks? Should we turn the bass down? Should we turn it up?

So many things can be said, second guessed, but in the end what’s really important is that it sounds better than what it sounds like in your head.

We wanted everything to sound H U G E/ E P I C/ L O U D. We had envisioned these huge rock sounding guitars that we loved on the Paramore, Lions Lions, Aerosmith record. We wanted Blood Brothers bass. We wanted a lot of things, and none of us are sure if anything sounds like what we wanted, but we do know, now that we’re starting to hear it, we don’t feel as nervous anymore.

We’re so excited :)

P.S. Go listen to these bands and buy as much of their stuff as you can! Amazing talent, amazing people;

Recording has been going swimmingly.
This is the room we tracked drums in. 40’ tall 80’ long. The drums sound just as big as the room is and crisp. I’m talking techno crisp.
We’re finished tracking drums and percussion now and are moving on to stringed instruments. Big shout out to our friends who took part in the drum circle, and much love to Dan Roth (Teamwork) for taking part in it as well while simultaneously being thee most pleasant sort of distraction LOL.
Videos soon! MUCHO AMOR!

Welcome!

Thanks for showing your lovely faces to the computer screen! We will be posting here about upcoming events, merchandise, shows, links to vids and more! Keep in touch, follow us, RT us, add us on twitter @SoundsLikeFM, like us on facebook. Be our www.myspace.com/soundslikefuneral music friends!

SLFM is a rotating cast so don’t be surprised to find a lot of guest posts on here, though most of them will be from me, Kayoum (@KayoumFM). Thanks s much for the support. We are all really excited to be doing a new ep called “All Sorts of Bad Things” starting August 14th, it will be out on iTunes worldwide as soon as its all done. In the mean time feel free to download “Bitter&Spite&EverythingNicethat’s on there as well as Amazon and Rhapsody. The new ep is going to consist of 5 brand new tracks.

I will say in comparison to the last record its not as dark. Though you will recognize the sound as being “funeral music” you will feel like you’re listening to something fresh that kind of pops in your ear. This is where i got lost in a series of awkward and confusing explanations LOL. Long story short we will be posting some vids up here of us in the studio recording, breaking expensive microphones, and playing really really loud music.

Keep in touch!
